Terms and Conditions

(S1) Terms and Conditions

  1. These terms and conditions apply to all makeup and hair services provided by Sara Chisholm Artistry.

(S2) General Provisions

  1. Sara Chisholm Artistry is an independent contractor and not an employee of the client.

  2. Payment of the deposit by the client must be prior to the service date agreed upon.

  3. By paying a deposit, the client agrees that they have read and understand all the terms and conditions. The client also understands that the client will be financially responsible for themself, along with any other members of their party involved in the makeup and hair service.

(S3) Bookings

  1. To secure a date for special occasions, photo-shoots or weddings, a signed service agreement is required with a 20% deposit due at the time of signing. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

  2. It is advised, dates and scheduled makeup times will only be reserved when a signed Service Agreement and deposit are received.

(S4) Booking Times

  1. A start and end time will be agreed by the client and Sara Chisholm Artistry. Each makeup requires a certain length of time to be finished; the usual timeframe is approximately 1 hour per person for makeup and 1 hour and 30 minutes for makeup and basic hairstyling.

  2. When reserving your date, book accordingly. Any additional makeup needs outside contract will only be performed at the discretion of the makeup artist.

  3. All persons involved in the makeup appointments need to be available at the scheduled time of said appointment in order to not break the contract.

  4. All makeup for more than one person must be at the same location and consecutive times (no gaps in between) unless stipulated in the selected package.

  5. If failure to attend the agreed upon appointment time specified in the service agreement. The client is in breach of the service agreement and forfeits the non-refundable deposits and or, all monies paid to Sara Chisholm Artistry and or, Assistants up until the point of failure to attend.

(S5) Booking Changes

  1. After a booking is secured and deposit is paid, any requests to alter your booking must be communicated to Sara Chisholm Artistry as soon as possible for any additional services required on the date.

  2. Sara Chisholm Artistry will endeavour to accommodate any booking change requests, but is not required under the terms and conditions to accept, change or alter any appointment.

    1. 1:However Sara Chisholm Artistry does reserves the right to refuse the provision of services which are additional to those specified in any quotes and not agreed to prior to the date of service.

  3. After paying the deposit, if someone in the clients party decides to a cancel of their service, the total amount quoted will remain the same and no refund will be offered, the client has the option to replace them with someone else.

  4. Sara Chisholm Artistry is not obligated to service beyond the agreement when the booking is made; this includes timings on the day. If you cause a delay to the agreed booking, you acknowledge this may compromise the delivery of service.

  5. If by no fault of Sara Chisholm Artistry or assistants, the booking runs behind the scheduled time, there are additional overtime charges of $50 per 30 Minutes. This will be invoiced to you the following day.

(S6) Additional Charges

  1. Travel fee: $20 for Gold Coast excluding Gold Coast Hinterland, rate for other areas start at minimum $30.

  2. Travel fee depends on booking destination. Sara Chisholm Artistry reserves the right to charge transport fees for locations at their discretion.

  3. Toll and Parking fee: Toll charges and Parking fees may also apply to any bookings where applicable.

  4. Airfare and accommodation fee: All costs for travel to a booked event are to be paid by the client. Costs may include, but not limited to: airfare, hotel, transportation and parking.

  5. Early morning fees: A $50 fee will be charged for booked appointment times before 6:00am.

  6. Makeup Assistant: For bookings of 6 or more people or where time is limited an assistant is required, this assistant will be charged at the same rate as the primary artist.

  7. Assistants of Sara Chisholm Artistry, as per the service agreement will also incur all additional charges mentioned. The client will be invoiced accordingly.

  8. Where time is limited, additional fees may apply.

(S7) Satisfaction Guaranteed

  1. Makeup will be completed to client's satisfaction but is not to exceed allotted makeup time. Ample time is given for each makeup upon booking. Acceptance of completed makeup application by client is acknowledgement by the client that makeup is done to their satisfaction.

  2. Acceptance of agreement and satisfaction can be given but not exclusive to, the acknowledgement by the client that the job is done, verbally and or written. Outlining the client is satisfied with the completion of the work.

  3. Dissatisfaction with the completion of the makeup and hair services, must be expressed to Sara Chisholm artistry and Assistants within the time frame of the agreed upon booking.

  4. Failure to express any dissatisfaction by the client with the services provided by Sara Chisholm artistry and or, assistants within the booking time frame, voids any liability of Sara Chisholm Artistry and Assistants. Refunds will not be provided to the client if dissatisfaction is not expressed in the given time frame specified, as per the service agreement.

(S8) Trial Makeup

  1. A trial makeup (consultation) is available upon request

  2. The additional trial makeup service is limited to 2 hours.

  3. Additional cost and fees for trail makeup session are charged at the discretion of Sara Chisholm artistry.

(S9) Service Location and Requirements

  1. Location of service for the day-of-event will be at the discretion of the client, but there are certain requirements the makeup artist needs to complete the makeup.

  2. A “set up” table/work area needs to be made available for the makeup artist at said location. Working electrical outlets must also be made available for use by makeup artist.

  3. Ample lighting, whether by means of natural light or by lamps, is necessary for services to be performed properly.

  4. A high chair or bar stool is requested but not necessary. Please let Sara Chisholm Artistry know if a chair cannot be provided.

  5. Parking at the client’s specified location is to be provided by the client. This includes securing a space at the venue’s parking

(S10) Health and Safety

  1. We do NOT work on wet hair. Best practice is to wash hair the day before your hair and make up appointment.

  2. For all make up services please ensure you have a clean face free of make up.

  3. We also recommend wearing a button down shirt so you don't mess up your hair style while getting dressed.

  4. Sara Chisholm Artistry Reserves the following.

    1. Sara Chisholm Artistry reserves the right to refuse service on any clients displaying contagious viral symptoms including but not limited to vomiting, diarrhoea and suspicious rash to ensure health of Sara Chisholm Artistry, assistants and our other clients.

    2. All brushes, tools and makeup products are kept sanitary and are sanitized between every makeup application. Any skin condition should be reported by the client to the makeup artist prior to application and, if need be, a sample test of makeup may be performed on the skin to test reaction. Should the client or clients party bring their own products that they are familiar with, then Sara Chisholm Artistry would be happy to use them, however we cannot make guarantees surrounding quality for product/s you supply for us to use.

    3. If Sara Chisholm Artistry deems that the environment is not of an adequate sanitary or safety standard to work in,Sara Chisholm Artistry reserves the right to refuse their services and the deposit and other monies paid will not be refunded or transferable.

    4. Sara Chisholm Artistry reserve the right to terminate your booking if at any time for any reason including the day of the event if it is due to client, clients party and others at locations behaviour, actions or inactions that cause distress to the artist. Illegal activity, aggressive behaviour, rude or obnoxious behaviour will not be tolerated by the artist or assistants. If a booking is terminated for this reason deposits and other monies paid will not be refunded.

    5. Children in attendance of the booking are to be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Children are not to be in the service area at any time unless they are having a service and are being supervised by a responsible adult. This is for their own safety; we use very hot styling tools, operate electrical equipment and have very heavy equipment which can tip if not used correctly. Sara Chisholm Artistry accepts no liability from any claims arising from any children’s injury while in the service area.

    6. Covid Positive and close contacts clients will not be serviced. If it arises that client or client’s party is Covid positive or a close contact during the service Sara Chisholm Artistry and assistants reserves the right to refuse service and cancel the booking immediately. All deposits and monies paid will not be refunded.

(S11) Limitation on Liability  

  1. Sara Chisholm Artistry shall not be liable for fulfilment of bookings and any delay or non-performance as a result of sickness, accidents, acts of God and other reasons beyond the Artist’s control.

  2. Sara Chisholm Artistry will not be held liable for any claim, loss, damage or injury to any person or property arising, either directly or indirectly, from Sara Chisholm Artistry’s performance.

  3. Sara Chisholm Artistry is not, under any circumstances, responsible for any allergic reactions to products used.

  4. Any damage to equipment or products by the client, client’s party and others at the location is the responsibility to reimburse of the client who signed this agreement. Reimbursements will also include postage and handling for all replacement equipment and products. All reimbursements are to be paid on the day of service.

  5. Sara Chisholm artistry is not liable for any works completed by any other Artist, in place of a replacement artist for Sara Chisholm Artistry.

(S12) Payment

  1. The final balance is due 3 weeks prior to wedding events or 3 days prior to all other events.

  2. Preferred payment method is via bank transfer as one payment.

  3. Cash is an acceptable payment method but only recommended for smaller parties. Payments in cash are to be agreed upon by Sara Chisholm Artistry.

  4. Cash payments can be paid on the day of service but must be paid prior to the start of service.

  5. The person responsible for the entire balance of payment is the person who has signed the service agreement.

(S13) Cancellations

  1. All deposited monies paid by client will be refunded if contract is cancelled within three (3) days of deposit received. After the three-day grace period, should a client cancel the booking or any service specified in the quotation, the deposit and other monies paid will not be refunded or transferred.

  2. In the unlikely event that Sara Chisholm Artistry cancels, which are not within Sara Chisholm Artistry’s reasonable control, we will get in contact with you as soon as possible and send another similar artist (in experience and style) to you along with any relevant notes/photos (if a trial has been done). If no artist is available and we are unable to fulfil your booking the deposit and all other monies paid will be fully refunded within two (2) weeks.

  3. Sara Chisholm Artistry reserves the right to terminate the Service Agreement for any non-compliance of terms.
